9x57 to 10,.75x68?

Would it be safe and practical to have a shot-out 9x57 rifle rebored to 10.75x68? Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith who might undertake such a project? Roughly how much might such a thing cost?

It's going to depend on some variables first.

Is the original barrel a high enough quality to warrant a rebore?

Is the steel of the original barrel good enough to rebore. Some steel is not.

Regular gunsmiths are usually not equipped with the barrel making machines to handle rebores. You need a rebore specialist and there are only about 3 of them left...

The actuality of going from a 9mm bore to the 10.75 bore is not a problem. It will take 2 reamers at least to pull up the bore. Remember, after reaming there is the rifling so the specialist needs to have the right rifling head to cut the twist using a sine bar or CNC cutting machine.

It's not as easy as you might suspect...
