9mm question

The net says for clean shot powder 125 gr. round nose using once fired brass start with from 3gr. to max 4.7gr. All use new name brand brass, not affordable for me. What is a good gr. not max, medium power for 125gr round nose and Hornady 115gr xtp using rang brass once fired. THANKS for your input, on keeping me straight.

I'm shooting Alliant Power Pistol in my 9s
115 grainers and 124 grain Delta precision. Mostly range brass for plinking. My load is good in my guns but maybe not yours.
4.5 to 5.5 should get you there. Mine seem to like the upper range of the charge for accuracy. Never tried clean shot

Great THANKS Already have 150 powdered up only 1300 more to go

Do some load work up before you load em all up! Also, take your barrel off and see if you can seat them longer.

I'm using Win. 231 @ 4.9 grns. 115 grn. RN Xtreme Full Metal Jackets. Works great for me. Found the load data in the Hodgdon Powder Manual. Please start low and work up a load for your weapon.

Never use data that's not from a trusted source IE loading manuals or from the manufacturer... Simply start low and work your charge up till you get what you want... That's the only way to find out what your gun likes... If you're new go slow and learn as much as you can before loading.... Feel free to ask questions here...

Using range brass in pistol is fine just inspect both before and after re-sizing... I don't use range pickup for rifle exept Lake City crimped primer that way I know it's once fired... There's different charges for 124gr or 115 grain... What's good for one isn't for the other... You'll need the start and max charges for both bullets.. SAFETY FIRST , Reloading is safe as long as you follow the Safety rules... You are the safety officer so take your time....

Have you tested any of the 150?

Had a buddy, new to reloading, who started loading for .44Mag; he was thrilled to get loaded ammo he had made himself, so over a weekend, he loaded up about 1000 rds. After shooting about 6 of them, he decided to tear them down and load them a little tamer.

Don't be like my buddy.

Every gun/barrel is different. The tolerances could stack for you or against you. No two chambers are the same and no two pieces of brass are the same. Like others have said start low and work your way up.

That being said I like 6 grains of V V 3n37 under a 124 grn Hornady XTP. Most accurate load I have so far, in my pistol.

Got a powder burn rate chart?

I use Hodgdon Tite Group, 4.5gr.
Starline brass and Berries plated bullets.
4.0gr with Hornady XTP bullets.

my 9mm is a kimber 1911 my goal for general target plinking fun shooting is finding a load that runs the gun reliably at lowest powder charge by loading cases in .02 increments from start charge until i get good feeding an ejection, and oal for any bullet you choose strip your gun and fit to your barrel when round plunks just bellow barrel hood that's your oal for that bullet in your gun
