99 days + Brown Truck = new dasher

Just had the brown truck drop off a package from Dan Dowling. He made a switch barrell out of an XP-100 he originally made into a Schneider barrelled 26" 223 improved .247 neck over 20 years ago.
Now has a 26" Hart 1 in 9 twist, 6 dasher .274 neck. I plan on shooting 87 v-maxs at prairie dogs and maybe some 95 bergers at 1000.

I have 100 rounds loaded up to fireform the brass and my next question is what are you guys using for powder and primers. I have H322, Varget, and RE15 for powders and Rem 7 1/2 and Fed 205M. I'd like to use the 322 and the 7 1/2's because I have a lot of both.

If you don't want to use up band width, just email me at,stork45@realguns.com).

Looking forward to making som pasture puddles out of pasture poodles next week.

Hi,

I've used H322 in my PPC, but only with 60-70gr bullets. I do not think it will be very good in a Dasher sized case with heavy bullets like Donovan said. High pressure, not a lot of powder in the case and lower speed. The idea behind the dasher is to allow some extra, slower) powder to get a bit more speed. I've tried N135,which is already slower than H322) and found this to be too fast for the Dasher. Popped primers, pierced primers, wasted cases.

Stick to powders in the N140-N150-N550 range of burning rates. You will get higher speed, better filling of the case and lower pressures.
