98 Mauser extractor problems

Had a Douglas 6mm Rem barrel put on a 98 Mauser action and it had feeding issues so I ground a lil off the extractor so the case would slide in but when it starts to go in it rotates the extractor to where it hits the action and the bolt won’t close. I can push the extractor down and it closes fine. What’s the best way to fix this?

What will said. Mausers are controlled round feed and designed to feed from the magazine not single fed like a Remington or Savage. If you will look at the bolt you will notice the bottom of the bolt is open so that the case head can slide up under the extractor while feeding.

I know how they work I have had several of them built. A few of them I’ve had to grind just a small amount off the bottom corner so they wouldn’t hang up on the case rim but I’ve not had one do what this one is doing.

Try bending the extractor tail towards the bolt a little to increase the rotational friction. If too springy to take a bend, soft solder a shim on the tail pad where it bears on the bolt to achieve the same effect.

Thanks I think that was the problem. I had another extractor that was bent a lil more than this one so I changed it and filed a lil off the bottom to slide over the case better and it fixed it

I have a 6 BR that so far hasn't failed. It's an old old mauser action. It's in 6 BR remington though. I have a ton of brass that came w/it. Kind of amazing how they work. There is a fine line!
