Working with a 6.5 Super TCU ( based on the 204 ruger case) and was trying out some 95gr vmax. Had a good group at 2949fps. Loaded some a bit warmer as I figured I could crack 3000fps and get close to 3100. Seeing if there was another node along the way.
Well, with the 1-8" twist barrel, the first loads at 3023 fps, groups open up about 4x from yesterdays load, the 3042fps load, only two made it to the target and the 3065fps load, none made it to the target. My spotter was saying things were hitting the ground around the 50 yd. mark and one was about 4 puffs of dirt.
Guess I exceeded the RPM limit of the bullets!!! RPM calculated out to around 275,000 rpm.
Nosler 90gr. Varmageddon worked fine.
