95gr. Berger VLD on Coyotes

Anybody use the Berger 95gr. VLD on coyotes? I've got a .243AI and I've been using the 87gr. VMax with great results. Nothing has taken a step after I've hit it with the VMax, even past 300 yards.

My problem is, a guy gave me some of the Berger VLDs and I made the mistake of loading up a few. My first, and only so far) group went into one hole,.052") at 100 yards. Best group I've ever shot. The high BC of the Berger bullet is attractive for shooting in the windy conditions here. I just don't want pencil holes and coyotes running off after good hits.

Any experience with 'em?

Thanks guys.

I've only shot a couple with the 95's, but it looks like they'll open up as far away as you can hit 'em.

I use the Berger 95g VLD in my 6mm WOA AR15, they're going out at about 2900fps and kill red foxes soo easy.
Jerry.

Results of a 115 Berger from a .25-06 at 154 yards. Not fur-friendly, the bullet opened, as did the coyote. MV @ 3200 fps.

I was looking for a single load to handle coyotes, rockchucks and mule deer. I think I've found it. Strongly suspect your 6mm/95 grainers will perform about the same.

I don't know about the 6mm 95s but the 30 cal. 155 VLD at 2750 fps from my 30X47 HBR blew an exit hole in a deers off side shoulder the size of a baseball from 112 yards. The only way to find out how they work is to shoot a coyote with one but don't expect to get too much for the hide with that BIG HOLE in it. :D

I'll give them a shot.,Pun intended)

With the price of hides the last couple of years, I'm not too worried about exit holes. I'm more concerned with dropping the coyotes.

Speaking of exit holes: One time my son was checking traps early one morning and forgot his .22 He caught a bobcat and decided to kill it with the .22-250 that was in the truck. There was a 12" exit hole in that cat. It took me an hour to sew it back together. Ah the fun part of being a Dad.

calling partner sold 5 coyotes for $20.00 total. on the carcass

buyer said he could have got 8 to 10 each skinned, fleashed, stretched, dried.... not worth it..

so, pick a bullet that will put them down and don't worry about the hides this year....
