Rebarrel job for a customer, he's asked me to add a brake- preferably profiled to the barrel.
It's .30 cal, and I've got roughly .660 where the shoulder will be- so I wanted to go 9/16".
This would leave only .050 wall thickness at the brake threads if I turned down a .750 brake.
I don't think this would be acceptable, without even getting into what would remain of the body of the brake and whether it would be substantial enough to take the blast pressures.
I've (reluctantly) used 1/2" brakes for .30 cal before but don't like doing it- might be the only option?
Suggestions?
