Midsouth had a good price on Hornady 88 ELD’s picked up a couple to try. How do they compare to the 90 smk’s or Bergers? (223) Have a barrel I picked up with a long...freebore (220) thought I’d try them.

There has not been much discussion about this bullet in terms of .223 Rem. The following thread is really the only one I've seen: http://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/new-22cal-88gr-hornady-eld-m.3951747/, it's mostly related to using them out of heavier calibers. Nonetheless, it may have information that will be useful to you. I'd certainly be interested to hear how they work out in .223 Rem in your hands. I've only heard directly from one person that has been loading them recently, and his response was so-so, but he's still working with them. So, I don't really know exactly what that means as yet (i.e. how they were loaded, tested, etc.).

With a .220, you'd be close to being able to run the 95SMK. Add another .080 and get after it.
