87 v-max in 243?

shot 10 3 shot groups. best group was .434. this is going to be my varmint rifle. the best group kind of stands alone. i have another 3 groups that aren't as good but the three together are good. should i still pick the best and mess with the seating depth. had 7mph winds. i'd like to shave at least another .1 off either way. shooting RL-15. anyone ever shoot this combo?

My standard is 1/2 moa, 5 shot group at 100 yards letting the barrel cool 5 minutes between shots.

I'd try a five shot group with your load and if you're under 1/2 moa (.500") I'd go hunting. That 87 V Max is an excellent bullet. Never used RL-15 however.

I use IMR 4350 in my 243 and have shot group slightly under 1/2 moa but my rifle has a sporter weight barrel. With a heavy varmint barrel you should be unable to get down to the .300 range with a little experimentation but I think you're current accuracy level is fine.

Want to learn volumes in one range session???

Buy two wind flags, set up one at 15-25 yards and another at 75-85 yards.

What you learn will do volumes in saving you money in reloading components and barrel wear.

Good wind flags are sold on the above forum...best money you will ever spend.

Good luck in your learning curve!

Got a few .4s today. Found my load. Ready to hunt. Too bad the farmer almost needs to cut the hay. That 6 inches of rain in april sure did a number.
