87 berger vld loads in 6BR

In addition to Varget, I've used 29.5 gr of XBR. I'm using a 10 twist.

I love the 87 Berger. It's stupid easy.

Has anyone compared them with the 88gn Flatbase Berger LD bullets?

Some one local has a 9" twist barrel for sale and I was thinking of trying the 88gn flatbase or 87 VLDs (or 95gn) in short range F class (300-500)yds.
Was there much difference between 87VLDs and 88FBs?

I have tried both the 87 and 88 in my 10 twist 6br. 300 yd is the farthest I have shot them and cant see much difference at all the 87 was a tad less finnicky to tune, but the 88 wasnt to hard to dial in.

You might find the information posted on both the Berger website and the Redding website that refers to the new seating stems for VLD bullets to be of interest before you buy some.

I have tried VLDs in the past in a few cartridges and found them to be a PITA to tune. I recently tried the new Redding seating stem for VLD bullets and was a lot happier with my VLD bullets.

Also: information about a non VLD bullet performance is less helpful than it might seem to the uninitiated; there is a radical difference in bearing surface and seating requirements between the two types of ogive.
