8208XBR loads with 60-70gr bullets in 6BR

Curious what loads people have settled on with it. I have been doing pretty good with it but I think I'm real close to the limit as today I was getting a sticky bolt. Some have stated it's real close to H4895 burn speed and if that is the case then I clearly need to back down and start over.

What bullet?, what twist?
Shot many thousands of 6mm 55 - 70 bullets.....Alliant Reloder 7, AA2230 mostly....But H322, 2015BR, N133, N135 and H335 all work at times. Usually RL-7 or AA2230 for 65’s on down to 55’s......70’s N135, H4895.

Seem’s like I’m always building/chambering a slow twist 6BR, was shooting a 6BR this evening at 300 yd’s, nice calm evening. We’re out zeroing for our annual PD trip, shot a group at that distance (300yds) to check zero......a dime covers the group completely, yes completely. 6BR zero freebore with 55 grain SBK and 30.5 RL-7 through a used Krieger PPC barrel.
Moved over to the 2” spinner and spun it without a miss as fast as I could load and shoot.......cranked up 10&1/4 moa from there shot the 600 yd plate just a little left of center 3 shots into a snuff can size group cranked back down to the 300yd zero and spun the 2” spinner on last time before calling it quits.

My two colleagues were already done for the night and we’re watching in the spotting scopes with little reaction as they just did the same thing before I did.

Yeah, you don’t want to miss ....or the verbal assault regarding ones abilities can be unrelenting. They shoot slow twist 6BR zero freebore too....we all use the same reamer.

Which always reminds me as to why I chamber so many slow twist 6BR’s.....boreingly accurate.

It's a 0 freebore 12 twist. My only bullets and powder available are Berger 64gr "column target" and Berger 65gr boat tail target. I only have H322 and IMR8208XBR powders at this time so offering up loads with other powders don't help me as I can't get them to try.
Mostly curious where people ended up with the 8208 powder. I was in the mid 32gr area but was having bolt lift issues so I think I'm going to look for a lower node in the mid to high 31gr range.

I have a question if I may ?

How well do the lighter bullets work in a straight 1-8 twist ? - And I'd be "jumping them some" probably because I'm running a 0.104 free-bore that's set for 105's - Oh, and this is in a straight 6mm BR. - I have IMR8208XBR and a few others to try.

Thanks in Advance.

I had what I think was the best accuracy at 32.5g but had sticky bolt lift as well. 0 freebore, 13.75 twist, 68 Barts ultras.
I ended up at 29.7 with what I believe to be equal or superior accuracy.
I say “think” and “believe” because I’m a poor wind reader and am only just learning to adjust my load day by day.
retuning seating... I never have figured out why 18 past touch blew up. It’s showed stable vertical in subsequent tests. They are either 4 or 5 shot groups. Some of my seating was off a tad so I didn’t shoot all.
And... it’s a bit of a wallet group. I wish I could shoot this small all of the time!

I shot 60gr Sierra "Varminters" in my 30 inch 8 twist and actually got a highest scoring target in a match once. The load was 32.1gr of H4895 in Norma brass using Federal 205 primers giving a velocity of 3606 ES 7 and SD 3.6 they was only jumping .015 in that barrel.

Here are the loads I used IMR 8208 in my 6mm BR Norma 10 twist ( zero FB ).
70 gr Nosler Varm
30.8 grs 8208 USA Ready primer
lap case

68 Berger
32 grs 8208 CCI 450
Lap case
vel 3365 ft/sec

These loads were worked up .None of these loads showed pressure although I considered 32 grs with the 68 Berger max. For both bullets I got better accuracy with AR-Comp.
With the 64 Column I never tried 8208 as my best accuracy came with AR-Comp. JME

In my 6BR hunting rifle with .055" Freebore, I have been using 32.0grn of IMR 8208XBR powder with 70grn Nosler BT bullets and CCI 450 primers. Velocity is at 3216fps and the 22" barrel has a 7.5 twist barrel.

What load of AR-comp for the 64 column? I have a 1/2 pound of AR-comp and may try it, even though it would suck to find out out it's awesome and I can't get more of it....

I ran a ladder from 29 grs to 32.5 grs in .5 incriments with a .010 jam. The best was 31.5grs. The exact load was 64 Column, 31.5 grs AR-Comp, CCI 450, lapua case with a .010 jam. Velocity was 3475 ft/sec.... 26" barrel. In my rifle they average in the mid to high 1's if I do my part. Last group I shot before the snow came last fall was .078. All 5 shot groups.

Ran a new test today with the loads reduced starting at 30.5 up to 32.0 and got some really good results! Finally broke into the 1's at 200 yards!
However,... every one of these loads the brass is sticking in the chamber? I'm starting to think there is a burr or something in there because these loads are way below max. You can not pull the bolt back after firing, you have to open it and give it a little "tap" to the rear to extract the brass. I stopped mid test and gave the chamber a good scrubbing with a larger brush and used a 7mm brush in the neck area, still sticking?

6BR Kreiger 22" 0.30" freebore 14 twist. Shot several thousand rounds 58 & 60 gr bullets 33.3 gr 8208 about 3580 fps. Never had a problem. I have gone up to 34.0 grs for a few shots. Don't remember pressure.

I was having the same problem with Sierra 85s and Varget. Check your brass at the .2 line.

What am I looking for at the .2 line??
Expansion of the brass base to .471-3. I figured out I was bumping shoulders back .002 just fine but my bases were growing. I had the “stuck bolt on a light load” and measured everything carefully.
