8 twist 6PPC

I have a Bartlien 8 twist .236 4 groove 6BR bblI never shoot and was thinking about havin it set back to 24 inches from 28 and chambered in 6PPC mainly to fireform brass for my match rifle but would probably play around with it at 500 yards with heavier bullets just for kicks,,

it would be worth it just to form brass with but the fun factor shooting 6PPC loaded with 95 VLDs or something similar at 500 yards just might be fun,,and I like fun,,

anybody ever tried it before,,it would be done by same smith with same reamer,,

Same reamer same freebore may be a problem with a 95 grain bullet.

Good fun and fire forming barrel sounds great tho

he has a throater he could lengthen the freebore with,,but the headspace .body and neck would be very close to identical,,

think a man could get 2750-2800 from the 95s with a 24-26 inch PPC ??

I tried an 8 twist 6PPC several yrs. ago. It was a tease shoot 105 weight range. Shot good a time or two but not competative. Just not enough horsepower i suppose. For yrs I competeted in 500 yard matches with a 6 PPC and did very well on many days. It got to be a joke if it was a PPC day or not. With the 8 twist route it never was.

I shoot the 6x47 Rem. which is identical in case capacity to the 6ppc. Mine is long throated for the 95s. It works well all the way to 800yds. Ive shot it at 1000yds, still super sonic.

I have a good 8 twist Brux i use for fire forming the PPC, , i'm going to throat it for 105's and see for myself. I have a sweet little 6br imp. to play with also, time is the only issue…… lol
