8" twist 22/250

35grs of Varget produces less that 1/2 moa with 60gr V-Max out of a 8"twist 26"brux bbl. I then loaded 38grs of H414 behind Sierra's new green tip 69gr bullet. Shot 5 shots 4 shots into 3/4MOA but then one flyer opening group up to 1 1/4 MOA. Any suggestions ?

There are a few shooters on "snipers hide" that were talking about their 1-8 22-250's, I'll dig up their data later, both were talking / asking about loads with heavier 224's; 75 A's and both NCC & SMK 77's.

I've shot a lot of different loads out of my 8 twist 22-250. I agree Varget and the 60gr V-max do work well. I have some regular old 69gr match kings and with N150 they shot well too. My favorite by far is the 75gr amax though, it's really the only bullet I shoot now. I'd like to try them against 75gr bergers though.

I'm not a fan of H414, too fine, makes a damn mess and doesn't shoot any better than anything else.

Are you using Lapua brass? Any neck turning?

Pushing heavies (77-90gr) thru a 1:8" twist 22-250 chambering you'll need 35-36gr of 4350 burn rate powder.
Ditch the Varget & light bullets.

35 varget and 73 berger HPBT at 3310 in 21.5" Rock Creek 8tw. My coyote load. It bugholes and drops them DRT.

This very simple wind flag is extremely effective, and very sensitive. This a 42" piece of steel rod, with a hole drilled in the top that will accept a Bent Bicycle spoke, 1/2" dia red yarn.

I have some very good wind flags, but this one really works, very cheap to make. Amazing how the slightest pickups and switches in the wind can open up groups.

After shooting with a wind flag a couple of times, you will feel like you are shooting blind folded without one.

Has anyone tried N550? I happened to be at the range a few weeks ago and a guy shooting next to me had a magnetospeed v3. I got velocity and ES for my preferred 75 amax load but it seems too good to be true. N550 is known to shoot fast but I'm not sure.

You may want to look at Superformance powder. I shot 41 gr with a Hornady 75 gr BTHP in a 1:9" twist Savage. Great accuracy and velocity. This powder works great in 22-250 and 260 Remington powder capacity cartridges. Certain calibers either really like it or don't

Thanks I just bought some today, think I'll try it out tomorrow.

Also try CFE 223. Second only to Superformance in velocity, and has been quite accurate for me and my friends. And knocks down the copper fouling big time.

Have you tuned bullet jump at all? That's always critical.
