8,5x63

Hallo

Perhaps it`s interessting for 338 enthusiasts:

In Austria and Germany the 8,5x63 gets more and more popular. Its a 3006 with 40° shoulder and 338 bullet.
My AERO 168grain bullets are accelerated between 900 and 950 m/s - depends on powder.
Very interessting: this cartridge ist very very accurate. I normaly reach an accuracy of 1/2 MOA on 300 meters ;)

Today I`ve tested a new load (5 rounds / 100m) with Vitha N140 powder and when it`s repeatable I would get very happy.
The rifle is a Custom Sauer 202 with 350gramm trigger, syntetic stock, custom hammer forged stainless barrel with 19mm muzzle diameter and muzzle break and I use a IOR 3-18x42 Gen4 SH scope (1 FFP).

Nice group.
I assume you're using that calibre on red deer as it's overkill for roe :D

I make my AERO bullets with different hollow point depth. Standard depth is 13mm and thats great for red dear and wild boar, for roe 8mm are ok without waste of too much good meat ;)
On roe the bullet without a hollow point work great too...
By the way: the point of impact is always the same, so it`s possible to fit one gun for more hunting situations and with the same point of impact.
