If you shoot at known target ranges then you don't need (or want) FFP. At the high mags, the crosshair can get huge.
The Nightforce NXS 8-32 is probably the best you'd get in that mag range for less than $2500.
The Nightforce Benchrest 8-32 or 12-42 will serve you well if the rifle is for bench use only and not thrown around. They are both less than $1500.
Sightron has a pretty good following on here and they make an 8-32 in Second FP as well. It's about $850+/-. Heard great things about their customer service.
Burris has the "XTRII F-Class"in 8-40X mag range (actually first focal plane) for around $1200. Heard mostly good things about them. It has a massive 34mm main tube so it has a pretty wide adjustment range.
Bushnell has their XRS elite tactical 4.5-30X for about $2000 - I believe that's FFP actually. A lot of successful shooters use that.
If you want to get to top-dollar, PM me and we can talk about Schmidt and Bender, Zeiss, Valdada, Tangent Theta, Premier, US Optics, etc...But don't expect to get a good one of those for less than $2500 (some are actually over $5000 for the best of the best).
Remember that higher magnification means lower clarity/more mirage in general. Nightforce, Zeiss, and especially Schmidt and Bender are well known for good optical quality throughout the whole range though. If it's a good/custom rifle, any scope less than $1000 MAY hold you back (notice the MAY).
Also make sure you use good rings, one-piece bases (unless the receiver holes are perfect), and then lap the rings into their final position before installing the scope. Let's just say I have experience with the effects of badly misaligned rings on a scope with an $800 price tag

Just my $0.02.
