7x64 for European wild boar

I have an invite to France to shoot boar and have almost sealed the deal on a Sauer Mod 90 in 7x64 Brenneke. Opinions on the caliber and the rifle as a 'live with' prospect would be appreciated as it would represent a serious cash outlay with little comeback if it is not a accurate/reliable tool to live with.

The caliber is absolutely fine for wild boar. It's even a very good choice considering that calibers, which once have/had a military application were banned for hunting in France. This has been loosend lately, but I am not sure to what extent.

The Sauer 90 is as fine a repeating rifle as you will find around the world. A masterpiece of engineering and a beauty with regard to manufacturing quality. The bolt glide is as smooth as a baby's bottom.

BUT: It is a traditonal European hunting rifle with it's orgin in the 60's. This means, it has a very slender barrel, no glass bedding, no pillars and a stock design which gives me the shakes.

You MUST test-shoot it. Don't expect varmint rifle accuracy. Apart from that, it is a very reliable and worthwhile having rifle, more than good enough for a wild boar hunt in France, which will barely require you to shoot further than 100 yards.
