7x57 brass

An interesting wildcat tried by my late Dad in a 7x57 Mauser 1895 in good condition: run a .25-06 reamer in the chamber using GO gauge; neck size .270 Win brass or .30-06 brass to 7mm; trim brass to 57mm or 2.24". Reload with 7-08 Rem dies and a .30-06 sizer as a body die.
You get some sort of 7x57 à la Rocky Gibbs with the potential of the .284 Win without the magazine issues.
The late Henry Borgheresi from Greenville, SC did the gunsmithing in 1987. He managed an unbelievable .5" for 5 rounds at 100 yds with the rifle and gently lectured Dad for having him tamper with a very fine rifle...

Check out this auction as there is some listed

Also: if 7x57 is back ordered, use 6mm Remington, .257 Roberts and 8mm Mauser brass. Resize and don't look back
