7prcw hunting rig info

Looking to build a hunting rifle in 7prcw. Looking for data on shorter barrel velocity experience. I’ll be about 23” on barrel length. Should I expect 25fps loss per inch from the 32” barrel data? Bout 200fps loss. Either 162 or 175dx. Probably use the ready to go ADG brass, h4350 or N555. Also will a 6.5prc with correct bushings and no other mods work as a sizing die? I figure I could used a 7saum seating die? Honestly can believe Redding or Rcbs does not have dies out yet?

Id get a proper die from Cortina or SAC as i tried to cut corners and did not like the results much.
It will work however you will get clikkers as they do not size the base enough Sir.

I have a bunch of really overbore rifles. I want something with long barrel life, low maintenance, easy to tune. I’d probably consider a 7saw but I’ve got a mag bf action. I ran some numbers and a 162 at 2800fps was still 1800fps out to like 850 yards.

You sure about that 1800, a 168 Berger at 2800 is only 1660 at 800.
Seems according to Hornandy calc it does.
If you use the .670 BC it gets to the 1800 but if you use the revised B.C of .612 on other apps its about 1680

I have a bartlein 22" modbb cf barrel shooting 180 hybrids right at 2750 with 55.5 grains of N555. Lapua brass, 210m primers.

Went as high as 57gr N555 with 180's and saw 2790 fps, accuracy was terrible.

I have good data for 168 vld's that I can post later. If I remember right they were right around 2900 fps.

You can use a 7 SAUM seating die. If you plan on using a Wilson inline seating die, you will need a washer or something similar in the base, about .030" thick. Base-to-shoulder measurement of the PRC case is about that much longer. If you decide to go this way, McMaster Carr is a source for washers of the proper dimensions. I can also mail you a couple.

Do a 7 saum. Everything avaliable and is a well proven short barrel round..... maybe the best ever.

The guy who invented the 7prcw told you what to do. Don't ignore him.
I agree with this. Also, lots of smiths with reamers appropriate for short action 7 saums. Not the case with the 7-6.5, all the reamers out there are really long freebore.

Anybody know anything about these Forster dies? Specs? Says coming

if there was more/better saum brass I’d have put more thought into it. I have a 6.5saum and the ADG brass I had was ruined after one firing. I guess because they made the saum brass out of spec for gunweks or something to that effect. Wouldn’t hold a primer. Rich Sherman had to change all his reamers because of that.

Some 168 VLD data from a 22" barrel:
N555 @ 58.4gr = 2880fps.

H4350 with 180hyb:
52gr = 2671, 52.3 = 2696, 52.6 = 2703, 52.9 = 2716, 53.2 = 2728.
