7PRC?

Anyone have any real world experience with the 7PRC? I'm considering it in that I have donor rifle. It would be fir longer range Steel. ADG or Peterson Brass preference? I'll start with Berger 180s in that they have performed well for me in other 7s. I also have an opportunity to get a AW2 Reamer.

I hope to be getting some experience with the 7PRC soon.
I have finished having a 7PRC done on my Surgeon 1086 action.
Already have ADG brass, H1000 powder and 180 Berger Hybrids.

I had one built last year on a Tikka. I’m using Peterson brass, I’m not getting advertised velocity but I’m ok with that. I’m using the lower node with 180 Hybrids, I do that with most of my rifles anyways. I’m getting 2910, it will consistently shoot in .4 five round groups. It’s deadly on steel out to 1500, never have taken it hunting. Its a good round but I find myself grabbing my Saum 80% of the time.

I have 4 right now. Berger 180s shoot the best for me but they have proven to be way more finicky than 7saum. I would lean towards 7 saum. I don't think I've ever had a saum that didn't shoot awesome.

I've been less than impressed with the 7prc. Never got anywhere near advertised performance out of one. They can be pushed harder but I have found best accuracy with 180s in the 2850 range. Nothing special there that numerous other cartridges can't do. I have no interest in velocity if it doesn't shoot well. Your mileage may vary.

I've had 2 SAUMs, a long action and a short. Brass was the weak link for me.
Both shot well. Just considering a different 7. I appreciate the feedback

I like mine a lot. I'm using a Surgeon action with a 26" Bartlein 8 twist barrel that is suppressed.
Accuracy has been outstanding. Still using Hornady brass that is 5 times fired. Primer pockets are still tight. 65 gr 4831 SC, 175 SMK, & CCI 250 primer. Velocity is averaging 2985fps with a SD of 14.2. Factory Hornady Hunter Precision 175 ELD-X was averaging 3019fps. All velocities were Garmin verified. My reloads at 100 yards are grouping between .381 to .771 consistently.

ADG brass is definitely more consistent for me in 7prc.

I'm using bullet central micron dies and short action custom bushing.

I have both a 6.8 western and 7mm PRC. I personally believe that the 6.8 western is superior from a ballistics performance.

Unfortunately, Winchester and Browning cannot launch and support a cartridge long term. I think the 6.8 western will fall into cult obscurity much like the Winchester Short Magnum and Remington Short Action Ultra Magnum line of cartridges. If someone knows about those cartridges, they "know." They mainly exist in reloading room and don't exist on the shelves in stores.

The 7mm PRC will likely exist in popularity similar to the 7mm Rem Mag. It will be a popular choice with widespread support. I would say the 7mm PRC is a very "safe" cartridge. It will be around for a long time and it's not too punishing for average shooters.

The figures I'm seeing are looking very similar to .284 Win. Anyone shooting both and can offer an opinion on the difference?

My son's getting 2,987 FPS ave with StaBall HD and 3,015 fps ave with, RamShot, GRAND using 180's, in a 24 inch Proof, barrel, F-210M' Primers & ADG Brass.
5 Shot group's, in the Low 3's to, Mid 4s.
Great for Steel plates up to,.. Elk,..way, WAY, the fudge,.. Out There !

I just may have to Replace, My Wicked Accurate, 6.5 Creed with, a 7 SAUM to, "Keep Up" with my Son's 7 PRC on,..
LR Steel Plates,.. Past 850 yds. ( "More Bullet",. NEEDED to,.. hear,.. the Splat ! )

That’s a decent speed for 24”
Faster than my 7 saum at 28”.

IF, I wanted to "Keep-Up" with, my Son's Rifle, ( For Accuracy to, 1200-1500 yards ) I'd Build, a 26", 7 SAUM.
Easier on Barrels and,.. Plenty,.. Accurate. ( I'd Like, the 1-8.5 Twist, in a BRUX Barrel )
For Longer Ranges On ELK, the 7 PRC's added Velocity,. IS,.. Nice
