7PRC throat diameter and free bore

Looking at the JGS 7PRC reamers, they list a SAAMI reamer with the .2333 free bore and the 7 PRC AW with the same Freebore, but a slightly larger Freebore bore diameter.

Is these reamers compatible with the Berger 180 and 190 bullet, keeping the boat tail/ shank junction above the case neck shoulder junction?

I am asking because my best friend ordered a PTG reamer to accommodate the long bullets, but has not heard from them in months. PTG did not specify what the Freebore length would be.

He has a barrel, ready for me to chamber.

I'll bet he knows, as well as any reason for the larger dia. freebore
 
These are from my 7/300 PRC with 150 rounds. Mason reamer, 0.250" freebore length, 0.2852" freebore diameter, the neck is 0.295" long. Pictures using a dummy case modified for the Hornady OAL tool.

The 190 ATips it was set up to run CIP AICS mag length with.

The SAAMI drawing gives 0.233 for the freebore length. Looks like that would give a lot of flexibility on jump with the Hybrids and keep the bearing surface ahead of the shoulder.

Thanks for the reply’s. This is the info I needed.
Ed cancelled the reamer that was never going to come, (who would have thought), and just ordered the 7PRC AW which they had in stock.

They said it would be here in 6 days.

The base is also bumped up a couple thou too Jackie. Reason for the larger freebore is that I have found accuracy there when specing a JGS reamer. They are not as oversized as some others so when I first switched to JGS I learned I needed to increase that diameter to avoid a tight freebore with is not good for accuracy with long bullets. I know guys are specing these numbers with other makers, they need to figure out what they are really getting, the numbers on the print are not what you recieve.
 
Good info. I'm contemplating a 7 something and had some excellent suggestions (thanks Alex) But why listen to wisdom :) I've had such success with my 300prc based off the AW2 Reamer with a bit shorter free bore, I'm leaning on the 7-300. Mostly because I have another Long Action that will be needing a new Barrel soon. The Lapua Brass has been holding up really well, 5th firing.

No problem. It was the kick in the pants I needed to get a 7 project of my own going.

My 7/270wsm needed updating. Yesterday I ordered a sizing die from Forster and sent a RFQ to Manson for an updated reamer. I wouldn't set up from scratch for that cartridge in 2026, but I have a bunch of legacy components. It'll be the 5th barrel for that gun.

Speaking of stuff that just might come, Manson just forwarded a reamer drawing for approval and payment. Not even 24 hours after I submitted a request.

Standard 12-16 week delivery quote, but I'm not in a hurry and it's never actually taken that long.

I've had several reamers made by JGS and before I ordered anything they sent blueprints of their existing files for my caliber. I edited and changed what I wanted and they followed with a blue print reflecting the changes. The reamers I bought were perfectly done with my changes every time. Hat's off to Jasmine in the front office.
