what size of bolt face does a rem 700 7mm ultra mag have &what other calibers have the same size bolt face measurment as the rum.

There's a huge amount of reading and information that goes beyond the scope of just reloading contained in any manual.

BraddC, I have seen a couple of custom RUMS that had to have the inside corner of the bolt lip chamfered just a little to stop the angled front of the extraction groove from holding the base of the cartridge just off the bolt face. Both rifles headspaced good with the go gage, but the ammo itself felt a little tight. Other than that, the std magnum bolt face, .535' to .540', will work with the RUM. Other considerations are an action long enough for the RUM, and the specific magazine box and follower needed to make the RUM feed. Actions set up for Short Magnums or even std length magnums,,7 Rem Mag, .300 Win Mag, etc) won't be able to feed the long RUM ammo out of the magazine. Also, the short action ejection port may not be long enough to eject even a fired case without pulling the bolt and case out of the rifle. An unfired round will not eject, and will have to be pulled out the back.

Braddc, couldn't get the P/M to go. The answer is the Remington 700 Long Actions will all work with the Rum mag box and follower, and the std mag bolt face will work also.

Sorry if all the other stuff caused confusion. It addressed using other actions or Remington Short Actions. Tom
