Hey moondog,
What is your opinion of Nosler and Rem. 7mmRSAUM brass???

They both seem to be holding up real well. The Remington took a lot of work to
get em to a decent level, Flash holes, neck clean, primer pockets, weigh sort, toss a few!
The rifle was done before I could get any brass thanks to the 6.5 SAUM craze
Jennifer at Nosler helped me out big time and got me 500
pieces. It really is nice stuff though. I am cycling through 225 pieces of it. I
Anneal every firing on a Bench Source, and have noticed 4 or 5 pieces that I
believe have manufacturing defects. (fold at the shoulder?) kinda hurts at the
$. I picked up another 250 pieces of Remington from Mile High a few weeks ago
when I was sayin Hi. I wouldn't hesitate to use the Remmy, If you can find it!
Powder Valley has 500 more on back-order for me now. LOVE the SAUM
Almost as much as the 6BR!

Thanks very one for the info. I just finished working up 200 pieces of Norma 7mmRSAUM brass and can't wait to start load work-up for my IBS 1000 yds. Light and Heavy BR gun.

All the 1000 yard match shooters that I know use Norma brass. They also use H4350. They run them about 2900 or so. Even though they can get more, they say they shot better a little slower. Matt

I only shot mine at matches a hand full of times. They shot well but I believe your right there might be more accuracy had at the 2900-3000 mark. for long range hunting though I pushed it harder.
I didn't see enough over the .284 to build any more 7SAUM's honestly.

I like my 284 Winchester but couldn't get it faster than 2700-2750 FPS without killing the brass and I experienced with all the popular powder( H4831sc,H4350 which shot real will in my gun and IMR 7828ssc) I did try RL 17 @ 2950 with the Berger 180 but that load ruin the brass but shot well.
Couple other shooters at the same club who shot the 284 complained of the same problem and was ruining brass
trying to get more velocity than 2700-2750 FPS.

I have run H4350 and RL17 and depending on setups been between 2900 and 3000 all the time. the higher speeds always with the 17 and also coated bullets.

I have never had good luck with the Vit powders,
My last .284 really liked 53.8 grains of RL17 with the 180 coated and a Wolf large rifle primer. 2988fps ES was 9 if I remember correct. I have left the 7mm's alone and been playing with mostly 30's and 338's lately though.

If you push a 284 over 2900 the brass will only last two or three reloads befor the primer pockets go
