I have a customers Remington Sendero in for a tune up and load development.
I glassed in the lug, recrowned the muzzle, cleaned the barrel with both a carbon and copper remover. The bore scope revealed a pretty good barrel for a factory barrel. The throat measured 2.695 from the case head. The factory trigger was adjusted down to 1.pound without any creep or overtravel.
My first,5) loads were 65.5 grains of H-4831SC Federal 215GMM and Nosler 140 balistic tips the first five shot group was in the .7s at 100 yds. I had a little primer cratering but not bad.
My second,5) were with 65.grains H-4831SC Federal 215GMM seated 2.685 and the group was in the .6s at 100yds.
With fire formed brass my third and fourth groups were in the .3s
Today I will try 65.grains of H4831SC and seating 2.695 and 2.705 seating depth. I had no vertical in my groups all were 9-3 o'clock groups.
I cleaned the barrel with both a carbon cleaner and a copper cleaner. The barrel was much less fouled than expected.
The rifle owner had been shooting Winchester combined technology 140s and Federal Premiums 140s and his best groups were 1.5 inches or better.
My goal is to develop a sub .5 controlled expansion load. I will switch to Accubonds since the shoot very much like the Balistic tips.
Your thoughts and suggestions are welcme.
