7mm08 info needed

Ok guys im picking up a remmy 7mm08 this week and looking for some powder and pill combos for whitetails. What type of brass are u guys having luck with in this caliber.Im thinking about sticking with the 140's.
Thank u and shoot straight but b SAFE!!

I have been using Winchester brass--(has not been very good--primer pocket were loose in some new out of the box) Plan to try Norma next time. I also have been shooting the 140 NBT over Varget (41 gr) with a CCI Large rifle primer--I am not pushing it very hard. I have also tried the 120 V-Max as well as the 145 Flat base Speer. Out of them all the 140 NBT shot best

I have a box of 140 Berger VLD Hunting bullets I am going to try in the Norma Brass--I will let you know how that works I have high hopes

I've had very good luck with Winchester brass. Its been very consistent, and the primer pockets hold even on hot loads. My current 7-08 load is 162 amax using 47.2grs of H4350, cci 200 primer, and getting 2750 fps avg.

I'm in the process using 139 gr Interbond with RL-17, and found a good node. Need to rest the load as its over max listed.

H4895 with Barnes 120TTSX (3060fps and sub moa at 200)
Varget with Nosler 120 Ballisitc tips (2830fps-IIRC)
Varget with Hornady 139 Interbonds

Have used both Rem and Win brass, no complaints with either.
Good luck, it's a fun round to shoot with 140's and under. Easy too load for,, ;)

Here's a great current thread for the 7-08, lot's of info;

been shooting number of 7-08 for years, the nosler 140bt have been deadly on one shot kills on white tails.

the brass has beem mostly r/p as the primer pkts hold up well, primers 9 1/2's powder 4064, varget, depending on the bbl, its liking, and length seem to alwas give good velocity (never pushing the envelope) and consistant .500-.600 groups at 100The Sierra 140 sbt also work very well.

no need for the mor specialized bullets as white tails even in the west, do not take as much to get clean kills.

have a good time

Bob

I use Lapua 308 brass, necked down and turned, with H-414 and 120 Ballistic Tips at 3175, in a 23" Rock barrel.

Amazing groups to 500 and devastating on whitetails......

I use Norma 7mm-08 brass fully prepped, I also use Lapua .308 necked down and fully prep it, Federal 210M primers a mild load of Varget topped with a Nosler accubond bullet, shoots sub 1/2" out of my factory Tikka T3 good for mule or white tail deer out to 500 yards or so and Elk 300 and under although it's not my preferred elk round I have killed two of them with this rifle and it is my daily rifle I pack in the front seat everywhere I go :)

Lapua 308 cases, necked down and turned, Federal 210M primers, H4895 using loads in the upper range of Hodgdon's recommendations, 120 Nosler BTs or 120 Barnes TTSX. Both shoot sub 0.5MOA in my rifle and are deadly on fallow and red deer.

You will find the throat in your Remington is quite long. Both the 120 NBT and TTSX like a bit of jump, as does the 140 NBT.

I found Winchester brass to be highly variable in weight, so opted for the Lapua. Next time around, I will go with Lapua 260 cases necked up and skim turned.

RP brass; 42 grs. Varget, CCI 200, and Nosler 140 gr. Accubonds out of a custom rifle with 21" bbl. Very accurate, never chrono'd it.

I'm using Lapua 308 cases necked down and turned. Getting good results from Reloader 17 shooting either Nosler 120 or 140 grain Ballistic Tips. Getting equal results from Federal 210M's or CCI BR2's. Another powder that I had good luck with in the past is H414. Hope this does not muddy the water too much! Good shooting and have fun!!
