7mm WSM actions

Hi guys- I'm now starting on a 7wsm for long-range, and I want to build it on a single-shot wsm action. Granted I have not looked around much yet, I though I'd start here, but what are some good options for a solid-bottom short mag. design?

Any suggestions on barrel twists for berger 180gr VLDs for this caliber?

Well since none replied I'll take a crack at it.

I have a Barnard P-model action which comes in either .473 or .532 bolt face. You can also buy one action and get both bolts to be cover for .308 size cases and the magnum.

Another couple of reasons I like this action is that for $995 it comes with an excellent trigger included. Also you can buy a drop in stock with an Aluminum bedding block thus eliminating the need for conventional bedding process. Just throw the barreled action in and go shooting. Lastly there is a 25 MOA cant scope rail made specificly for the action.

For all the above, there is one stop shopping at www.MTguns.com and Mac Tilton has everything in stock with no waiting. He is a great guy to do business with. I just used the above combination to place 18th overall at the F-class Nationals in Raton, NM last week. ;)

I can't offer to much advice on the action, as my 7WSM is built on a Surgeon SA repeater. I like the idea of the Barnard action with either bolt face shims, or swapping bolts for differnt bolt faces. I have two bolts for my Surgeon - they swap perfectly - for .308 and for the magnum boltface.

On the twist, I can tell you that my 9 twist did fine at low velocity and low altitude,2,825fps and 79 ft altitude - in Houston, Texas), and does just as well at 2,200 feet altitude and higher velocity,2,900 fps at 2,200 alt in Las Vegas)

I have never seen a aluminum bedding block that wasn't helped out a lot by bedding it.
One size will not fit them all, how can it ?
A 9 twist is a good twist for that bullet weight, and you can shoot the 160+ weights very well with a 9 twist also..
