7MM STW

Hi, guys i have some questions maybe some one can help.I just picked up a Remington sender in 7mm stw low round count 180 documented rounds. It was bought a friend on mine and he used it as his long-range deer gun on his farm. Now i know that this is way over kill but i am doing to use this on wood chucks and shooting steel plates at long range i was thinking of going with a 140 gr. B-tip. I am looking on some good remediation's for powder and brass I know that Nosler makes brass for that cal. now That seems like the way to go right?

I have two customs.

For chucks, I would use R#22 and the 120g V max with a Fed 215. You will hit the accuracy load right in the are of 3800 fps.

For Deer, use the 140g Nosler/Winchester combined technology bullet with IMR 7828 with a fed 215 primer.

Your accuracy load may be over what the book recommends for a max load in this cartridge. You will get at least 100 fps more with the C/T bullet over naked due to how that bullet develops pressure.

I have a 7-300 wby which is very close to the 7mm stw and the gunsmith that built it Howard Wolfe said that if you use the lighter bullets the barrel will wear out faster. If it were me I would use the 162 amax, 168 sierra or berger and they will do better at long range than the lighter bullets.

Its been a long time but my neighbor got one of bak in 70-80's (when evr it was sumthn new) and I loaded for him.....had best accuracy etc with 150 and up (esp 175 sierra SBT's for big game)the only Berger bullets at that time were lil' 68's etc.......used 4831 and later Rx 25 at max.....Roger

thanks guys I need all the info i can get, one more question I know that this is what they call a barrel burner but what can i expect in terms in barrel life..
