7mm RM primers? mag or not

Going to load up some 7mm RM for a friend. Will large rifle primers do fine in it? I have large rifle mag fed match but i dont want to wast them on his loads, so id like to use some CCI large rifle primers i just got. thanks

I bit the bullet so to speak and used the Federal Magnum Match. Also first time a set of rcbs small base dies they were for the 7mm mag. I had one problem, they add a crimp and i over crimped a few pieces of brass. On the over crimped ones 2 of them the bullets came loose( not out). Went back after were did 50 that were ok and backed the die off a bit more to remove more of the crimp. I got them to just barely crimping the brass, almost only visible by confirmation with a sharpie. I didnt know they made rifle dies that crimped, doh.

You May get by using the std large primers but ES and SD could be large. They may cause problems if fired in cold weather. If you use them use one of the faster single base powders that is compatible with that cartridge. The rule of thumb is start considering mag primers when you are trying to light 60 or more grains of powder, Ball and double base powders usually need a hotter primer. There are some new ball powders that may be more forgiving on primer selection. At one time Winchester only made one large rifle primer for std and mag loading because of their ball powders. If the ammo is to be used for hunting in the winter I would find some large mag primers, look for Wolf, cci 250, Rem 91/2M, Win mag which may be easier to find. I understand not wanting to use your F215 gold medal as they are the some of the harest to find so go to Powder Valley, Bruno's, Sinclair, even Cabela's for some of the others.
