Hello all - I ran into a new one on me at the range. Rifle is a 7mm Rem. Mag., 24” barrel, 1:9.5. It is consistent with the “vintage” 175 and 170 grain rounds that were bought when it was roughly in 1980. It groups roughly an inch at two inches high at 100m, which is where I want it. However, this weekend I tried the factory 162 gr. ELD-X Precision Hunter ammo from Hornady. The groups were 1/2 inch or smaller. While they too are two inches high, the trouble is they are also six inches right of center. I am looking at loading some 178 gr. ELD-X rounds for it to see if the problem is bullet weight related, but any thoughts on what may be going on with the factory 162 gr. are appreciated. Thank you folks.
