7mm br

Just got a 7mm br in the XP100 with a 14" barrel need a good starting point for a coyote load.

I'd like to stay light, zero at 150, and still reach 250-300?

Realistic? Unrealistic?

200 yds would be a very good range if I can get there. I know this is elementary stuff and load developement would give it to me. I just do not like to reinvent the load if someones been there and done that.

TIA Harvey

with out a problem. I have had one for nearly twenty years.and it shoots Nosler 120 ballistic tips no 39550'S, and Sierra 100 hollow points no. 1895'S both in the same hole at 160 yards. made a adapter plate out of aluminum back then and put a short bipod on it. go to the books for a load, I went to the top right away. the first four shots - no 1 to see if it was on the paper no's 2-3-4 one hole at a hundred.

I will second Norm's choice of bullets. I shoot IHMSA silhouette and use an XP in 7mm BR. For choice of powders go with AA 2015 or VV N133 with Remington 7 1/2 primers and Remington cases. My load sends the Nosler 120 BT's down range at 2300 FPS into a 2 inch group at 200 meters and will knock down a 45 pound steel Ram silhouette.

Richard,

I am always hesitant to put details like that on a message board. In my gun, 29.0 grains of N133 with a Remington 7 1/2 primer, 120 Nosler BT, Remington case, and COL of 2.35 inches is safe with a MV of 2300 FPS. Your results may vary!

What twist barrel are you useing the mate is in the process of building a 7 X 47lapua and we are hopeing to get to at least 2800 fps my 30BR will push a 125gr Ballistic tip at 3000 FPS easy.

Thats interesting as he has a 1 in 10 twist 26" long and hopeing to get 2800 out of it useing 140gr projectiles with the 47 lapua case

My apologies. I got the rest of the stuff that came with the handgun the following day, after I posted, did not know there was this much extra stuff. Almost 600 loaded rounds and lots of bullets, primers and brass. Everything was marked 1995 so its been sitting a while.

The loads were marked 29.6 & 29.7 of IMP 3031 all 120 gr Hornady's SP-SSP,single shot pistol). The COL was "short" at 2.185, according to manuals. Will check different COL's.

At the range it came in with a 2.25 group at 200 yds and chrono showed approx average of 2500. However the chrono had over 200 fps either way. I expect powder was not carefully weighed. One came in at over 3084 FPS. That one I was very concerned about, however it did not seem to extract hard and everything looked ok.
