7mm-300wsm with 195gr berger

Hello all,
The purpose of starting this thread is to try and get as much information flowing on the 7mm-300wsm and the 195gr bullets.

I am running a 28 nosler at the moment but would like to try a 7mm-30wsm.

The 7mm-300wsm as far as my math goes should be able to push the 195's at 2800-2850 fps in a 28" barrel at which they will should give me 1500m of supersonic range. looking at applied ballistics it should be mach 1.07 at 1500m with a starting velocity of 2825fps.

The powders i am keen to know if anyone has done some testing with are H4831SC, H1000 and Retumbo. I would like to know velocity and accuracy.

If this project should come to fruition i will be rebarrelling my .28 nosler which is built on a Stiller TAC 300 action and set into a Manners T4A stock with a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 on it.

Regards Sam

A friend of mine tried that configuration for 1000 yd bench rest but struggled to keep it consistent. I personally own a 7/300 Weatherby built by Howard Wolfe. I can tell you that I have pushed 180 bergers at nearly 3200fps. I was running h1000 with fed 215 standard primers and it shot well for 1000 yd bench rest especially in the wind.

We ran this for F-class (33" barrel, Winchester brass). You can easily reach the velocities desired. We use H4831sc....start around 58 grains and work up. We ended up at 59.6 grains @2800fps...mild load but shot most accurate.

Scott Harris,
Thanks for your input, looking at what you have done is it unlikely to achieve my desired velocity in a 28" barrel with the powders i have selected?
