7mm-08 to ackley improved

I have a Thompson encore 7mm-08 barrel that I would like to ream to an ackley imp. How could this be accomplished ? Is this
Possible without doing a set back and using a hand reamer?

OK. Long version. If you want a true Ackley Improved cartridge, you must set the barrel back. If you want an Ackley improved plus .005-009" long cartridge you can do it by hand. If you do this you will be obligated to set your dies up accordingly to reload the ammo. You will have to seat your bullets out long, when fireforming, to avoid headspace issues. You will also be stuck with a firearm that if you tried to sell it to someone could present a safety problem. As I see it the going up is hardly worth the coming down. You could order a 7BR barrel and go at it with a hand turned reamer. Good luck with your project. Sorry if I hurt your feelings Happy New Year.

If you were not going to sell the barrel, you could use 308 brass, neck down and use the false shoulder to set headspace on your die with. Years ago, not many gunsmiths knew how to headspace for AI's, this is how I set up the cases so there was no stretching upon fire forming.
