7mm-08 to .243 winchester

Has anyone necked down a 7mm-08 to .243 winchester? I see that the two cases are close in size other than the length of the shoulder. I was wondering if all I have to do is run a 7mm-08 thru a .243 sizing die and then fire form.

I would do it that way but be sure neck thickness stays .015” or less. If neck meets that, i would leave a false shoulder to ensure it fits snug in the chamber to get a good fire form Without the risk of case stretch. Thats just the way i do it. YMMV

You'll very likely need to trim the length and possibly turn the necks. It'll help to know the chamber neck diameter. You would want at least .002" clearance between the loaded round neck diameter and the chamber neck diameter.
