7mm-08 case length question

I measured some of my once fired brass. A few measure 2.017,some where 2.022 most were 2.27. You see max length(2.035) in the book but not the min. what is the shortest safest length? Is there a site or data that shows this? Or is this just a experience thing?

The sierra book gives a "Trim to" length and it is .010 shorter than the book length. If the 7-08 max length is 2.035 then the trim to length will be 2.025.

If you want to check your chamber and find out what your chamber length is, order one of these caliber specific tools and measure.

If your measurement was taken on a fired cartridge, it will be shorter than after you sized it. The case will grow after sizing then measure again.

All the cases was measured after full length sizing and deprimed with Forster die. I guess I have alot of cases to throw away :'(

No need to throw away the one that are shorter than 2.025, keep shooting them, they'll grow.
