75 Grain A-Max, 22-250

My new varmint rifle should be here today or tomorrow. It has a 28" Krieger barrel with a 1in8 twist. the cartridge is 22-250. I am looking for some load data for the 75 grain A-Max. I would prefer H-414 loads. But I am open to any loads anyone has had success with. Thanks, Tom.

With a 1:8 twist and the powder capacity of the 22-250 case, you may very well encounter bullet blow ups with the 75 gr A-Max.
That 1:8 twist is perfect for a quality 80 gr Berger, Sierra or JLK VLD at over 3000 fps.

I have a 22-250in 1/7" twist and shot the 75gr A-Max at 3100FPS using mild loads of IMR 4064. Also the barrel lasted 1000 rounds before I was getting 1/10 to blow up. At 1100 rounds I was getting 1/5 to blow up. I cut the barrel back and it is on a coyote calling rilfr and excellent results.

Tom, I've had good results with my Savage LRPV 22-250 1 - 9 twist using that combination. My best groups have come from 37.2 gr. of H-414 under the 75 Gr. A-max with .010 jam after kissing lands. I have shot a couple of 5 shot groups at 200 yds. that were in the high .200s and low .300s. This load did not show any pressure signs in Jan. but start low and work up as usual. Chrono says about 3220 as a mean velocity with single digit SDs. Bill

My 9 twist loves the 75 grain A-max over H-4350 with a F-210M primer...
I run em pretty fast and so far have never spun one apart, unlike the 80 grain Berger...

Didnt realise the amax were so soft if they blow up. Will a 1:10 twist stabilise them or are they only suited for 1:9
