I am installing a RemAge Criterion in 6.5 Creedmoor on a 700 action. Has anybody used the Northland Shooting Supply taper loc recoil lug system or is there a better way to go. Thanks for your help.

I have a REMAGE barrel on order to fit a 700 action. Here is a good article on how to do it. I plan to reuse my Remington recoil lug, although the jam nut system can apparently accommodate a thicker lug. As I understand it, the biggest issue is getting the lug vertical so that if you bed the action and around the sides of the lug, you don't create a glue in situation. Having a lug with the sides tapered, reduces that risk. The standard Remington lug is straight. My plan is to taper the existing Remington lug to minimize the glue in potential.

Personally, I would recommend a new taper side recoil lug. They can be had in different thickness. I think you will be pleased with the results.

I should have googled the Northland information before I responded. That taper lock system they sell, seems to be a tool to hold the recoil lug in place while you tighten the REMAGE nut. It may be a very good idea. There are various ways and tools to do it. Some that have the machine tool equipment drill one or two holes for locator pins, or one pin and a slot. I plan to make an alignment tool to keep the lug from turning, and doing it in two stages. The first stage will be to loctite the lug to the action. The next day, if I'm happy with the position, I will set the headspace with the loctite hopefully preventing any unwanted movement of the lug. I'm retired and have lots of time...

I don't plan to switch barrels. If you do, you probably want a quick foolproof way of doing it so the lug is always aligned without much effort.

Some recoil lugs already have hole drilled and come with proper roll pin. Center pin on bottom of action using action screw holes and cut a gentle
notch in bottom of action. ( I have, on occasion, put rear action screw in, tie a loop in fishing line filament and put over screw, pull tight to center over
front screw hole, mark edge of action for notch placement.)

Mark the lug before you removed the barrel and tap the lug back as your tightening the nut . Larry you also can drill and pin it .
I have a action wrench so it not a problem savage has a notch Remington doesn't. Larry
