700 receiver printing and bolt work videos

I haven’t watched them, but definitely will. Thanks for sharing…really appreciate it.

Too bad a better camera wasn't used. Great information, thanks for sharing!

In the 1st video of the 2nd set, Stan mentions the cam angle of bolt handle and locking lug should be the same and engage at the same time. How do you verify this? Measure the internal cam angle and engagement?

When the bolt lugs just came off the internal lugs, Stan would make a reference mark along the length of the bolt body (or bolt sleeve). That reference line was used to position the bolt handle cam angle with the camming surface angle on the receiver. With the handle welded on it's own sleeve, he could rotate it easily to the correct orientation.

Stan also had a 700 'test' receiver that he milled off the receiver cam angle. He bored the receiver in the area of the original angle to take a 3/16" pin that had an angle cut on it to match the cam angle on the bolt handle. A flat was milled on the top side of the pin and a set screw came in from the top of the receiver to hold the pin. Then he hardened the pin.

The final version of this was a shorter pin with thick washers of varying thicknesses. With the spacers, you could adjust the amount of the cam pin protrussion for maximum primary extraction.

Pretty crafty.

He would have shook his head after Big Greens move to the CNC'd receivers and the 'long bolt tube' that give no primary extraction...

Good shootin' :) -Al
