7 mm WSM

Was going to reload some 7mm wsm loads for a friend. He is going to use 168 grain Berger VLD hunting bullets. I normally start at jammed when reloading VLDs. You guys that have a 7mm wsm, where does your rifle like it's seating depth? Was going load some for single loading, and some for magazine length? Was going to use IMR 4350, and H1000 powders to start out with, what would be close to a max powder charge with these powders? Thanks

I tested Berger 180 vld hunting bullets and Reloder 26. I loaded them to mag length and did a ladder test. They shot so well at mag length that I did not even mess with seating depth. I ended up pushing them at 3050 with no pressure signs as I want to save my primer pockets due to limited brass. I verified the drops with the G7 BC listed on the box and my shooter phone app. Easiest load development I have ever done.

Just a bit ago I shot a cow elk just behind her left shoulder at 580 and it was a pass thru. She staggered downhill and piled right up. Very happy with the Berger hunting bullet. Of course this is a sample size of one...

Try Reloder 26 that stuff is magical.

FWIW

I loaded up some 168 VLD Huntings in my new-to-me 700 VLS in 7mm-08, 42.0 grs IMR4350 about 15 thou off the lands. Little slow at 2,450 fps, but 5 shots at 100 yds went in at 0.332 inches.

A ladder test to achieve a higher velocity node is loaded up and waiting for winter to release its grasp here in Idaho.

I load 140 nos,bt to3200 fps with rl22.
Shoots 1in or less in abolt browning
