7 mm saum

i am looking to build a 7 mm SAUM, and was wondering the best way to go about getting brass. is it best to buy new brass from somewhere like midwayusa.com, or can i make brass for this cartridge from a different case? just wondering, Brian

I got a fifty case pack at a local shop of R&P 7saum brass for my new project and it is pretty good stuff. All weight was within 2grs. and the lenghths were all close, I dont see a need to form any.

I purchased a lot of Remington brass when I got my 7mm saum and it was all pretty good. None were as bad as some folks seemed to thing it would be......
I never seen a need to form it from something else....
That factory gun will shoot.......... I hope my new custom Ackley will shoot as good......

so..... what do you guys think of your 7 saum's? i am trying to find some info on it, but cant find any good real life stuff. hows it shoot? is it preety accurate? what are the advantages of it over the 7 mm remingtom magmun?

My 7mm SAUM is now my most favorite deer rifle of all. The first 2 Whitetails it settled on went down right now. The distance was inside of 150 yards but I was impressed with what happened. I reload 140 grain Ballistic tips in it with H-4350 and it will put 5 shots inside of a inch very easy any time at all out to 200 yards..... I'm sure the Nightforce 5.5x22x50 NXS NP2DD helps out a little too.....
I load for a friends 7mm Rem Mag and my rifle will out shoot his and I'm using less powder to go faster by at least a honest 100 fps....
I'm still amazed with the accuracy of this factory S/S BDL Remington that's not available anymore 'O,

i have 1-8twist. whats the best weight bullets for this twist?

168's and up I would imagine would be the best weighs in a 1 in 8 twist.

where can i find good bullets in the 168 and up range.i have also heard of 180 vlds. who makes them? thanks brian.

Most any supplier will have the bullets you need, check out any of the buttons on top of the page to see what is available. Berger makes the 180 VLD.........
