7-6.5 PRC action

Hi

I'm thinking about building a necked up 6.5PRC or the 7PRCW and was wondering what action length should I go with? It'll be for the F-Class and will be single fed.
1 person told me to go with SA but reading online it's suggested to go with LA to accomodate those longer projectiles.

Any opinions?

Thank you

You will rarely need to eject a loaded round unless there is a call to cease fire . Still its simple push the bolt release button an extract the loaded round. I have been shooting BAT 3L as one of my rifles for years. You will see mostly Bat M’s Bat B’s Borden BRMXD’s a few Borden Black nights as they are relatively new release. Also seeing more and more Blake Paragon actions. Also to mention many Kelbly Panda Fclass actions. There are a few others. They will all shoot very well as long as they are maintained inspected and cared for.

Coin toss on my top 2 personal choices of actions I run. I love the Borden BRMXD and the Bat MB (MB no longer in production last i heard.). My BAT M still not worked in yet. But it’s getting there. And old reliable BAT 3L not as slippery as my top 2. But super reliable to be nice every time I install a new barrel. However also no longer in production.

Long story recommendation Bat and Borden are super. But many other great choices. Find yourself a great Fclass Gunsmith who knows what it takes and follow their advice! Omar Alonzo in Houston, Brian Nettesheim in Wisconsin. Speedy in Tex and or Alex Wheeler in Florida . All know the game and know what to suggest. There are many other get out to a match and look around and ask questions from other shooters before or after the match.

Welcome to the party

So there isn't a difference in getting SA over LA or vice versa? I'm leaning towards LA in case I decide to switch to something else later that requires a LA. I do have a 6mm in SA already.
A generic search outside this forum says "LA has the advantage to seat longer for optimal performance" which I assume is not the case? Based on the responses here.

With a single shot action you can load a round as long as you want. Unless the action has a really small loading port it’s hard to get a round so long it won’t go in on most actions within reason. I’m talking most F Open cartridges and applicable actions.

If there are F Class matches reasonably close to you I’d recommend going and asking lots of questions and don’t be shy to ask to handle an action. Many will be happy to let you handle their action after they finish their string of fire. And you’ll likely get invited to take a shot or two. Or take a long ride down to Sacramento and we’ll happily get you on the line with us and handle various Bat’s, Borden’s and Pandas, LOL.

The other thing to consider is that weight is not a factor on an F Open rifle. In fact your usually looking to add weight to a finished rifle so there is no real reason to go with a shorter action that you might need to pull a loaded round out the back rather than the port. While not a game changer taking it out the port is just more convenient in the middle of a match. If you’re buying a new action just get what works the best the first time. If your buying used and getting a really good deal then it is what it is.

The last thing to consider is nitride hardening which I strongly recommend. It reduces wear to virtually nothing and probably even more importantly almost eliminates the possibility galling of the bolt and lugs.
