7-30 waters

curious to know if/what some of your pet loads/ favorite powder or bullets are for one, It will be in a 14" contender if that makes a difference

I had a Contender set up as a carbine in 7/30 Waters. I hunted one season and killed a PA buck with a Hornady 120gr hp It just exploded the heart. Deer fell in it's track.I do not remember the powder. I was several miles back a st game land road then up the mt A video of me trying to get the buck on top of the bike with rifle and tree stand on my back would had been amusing. I finally wedged the front wheel between some saplings and got the deer on top of the bike. After that it was easy, just push it out th road.Little carbine was accurate, sub moa.

120 grain bullets and Winchester 748 and I think I used some 4895.

I have the carbine also, 120 sierra reloader 15 you just woke me up its been in the back of my safe for years, think I might pull it out for a little fun

I have a 14 contender also. My likes Nosler120 bt over R15

got a Contender also. It likes H-414 topped with a 120 gr. Nosler Bal tip. Truly evil on everything from ground hogs to deer.

Speer TNT and the fastest powder you can find data for. My favorite is H322.

139 Hornady BTSP and IMR 4064. Recoil is certainly pronounced with this load though.

I miss my T/C Contender in 7-30.. Bob Milek turned me on to this cartridge and it was my favorite pistol cartridge.. I forget my load but recall shooting at a public 200 yard range.. Two guys were taking turns shooting a 308.. I heard one of them say, "He is out shooting us with a pistol." I felt great after that packed up and was happy the rest of the day..

Way when I shot IHMSA I used a 154 grain FB and WW 748 in a 14" contender. IIRC MV was about 2250 and if I could put it on the rams at 200 meters, they went down. Great load and great cartridge. HTH

i was hopeing to use varget since i have a bunch setting around.. any thoughts?

I also used Varget and Nosler 120 bt. It was more accurate with the r15.
