7-08 bullet ??

I have a custom Mauser action with Douglas 10 tw. barrel chambered in 7mm-08 and it loves the Varget and 140 grain Accubonds. Killed a 10 pt. buck in KY with it and double lung shot put his nose in the dirt.

Savage 110 7mm-08 1:9 twist barrel shoots the 120gr Barnes TSX exceptionally well. Winchester cases with Varget shooting at 2750fps produces low recoil and tiny groups on paper, but more importantly has put down every animal I've shot with it quick and clean. 40 to 400 yards. i have never recovered a bullet as they all pass through, even when hitting bone. Clover leaf exits and devastating organ damage.

Federal did a video sometime back showing the bullet performance of several brands. The hide and bone test was good (about 11 minutes into the video). The Barnes always performed well. Here's a link to the video.

I shoot a lot of different bullets for competition, but only load the Barnes now for hunting...

Look at the Barnes load data for both the 120 and 140 grain TTTX.
I have found the Barnes load data to be a good starting point..

Daughters gun gets Barnes 120 gr TTSX at about 2900. Grouping is very good, sub moa. She hasn't used them on game yet, but all the results we've had in other calibers have been very satisfactory. Im not an advocate of BTs. Last 6 deer I shot w/ 308 150 gr btw . # never left their tracks. Two went near a 100yds, fortunately wit good blood trails. and one ran 400yds to a neighbors(bad neighbor) with no exit and very little blood trail. Ive also hunted with an outfitter that strongly recommended against their use due to the disproportionate number of deer lost w/ the BTS. A friend who has done a lot od crop damage control says they are the best bullets when you can carefully choose your shots(both lungs) and mot deer are right in their tracts, but any other shot rarely has an exit wound. Just like any other compromise. And more than my $0.02

I can't say for the 9 1/4 twist but I have the 11 1/2 twist and it shoots the 100-120's really well. I would think the 140's would work for you.

+1 for the discontinued Hornady 154 Round Nose. Incredible accuracy and the literal "Hammer of Thor" on white tails. PO'd they were discontinued.

Consistently most accurate: Sierra 140 gr SP ProHunter. A little tougher than the SBT.

Favorite deer/hog bullet: Speer 145 gr SP HotCor. Almost as accurate as the Sierra 140 if you weigh and group your bullets. Always have complete pass throughs so I have never recovered one.
