6XC loads?

Well I got a 6XC rifle on the way. Need some load data. Looked at Tubbs sight...not much there in the way of load data.

I have 16lbs of Varget, some RL-15,19,and 22....lots of CCI BR-2 primers and a bunch of 115 DTAC's and 115 VLD's.

Now I just need to know where to start.

Take care,Stan

Among the powders you have, I'd start with Reloder 19, with the 115gr Berger VLDs .015' in the lands. Start the DTACs .020' out.

But... see if you can pick up some H4350 and Reloder 17. Those will probably be optimal for your cartridge.

How about IMR-4350? I have 8 lbs. of it. H4350 is hard to find right now.

Thanks for the help.

IMR4350 will work, but I cant say for sure the loads are the same as with H4350, which is what I use. H4350 is THE powder for the 6XC. I tested Re17 and it works, but I didnt stick with it. Varget works too, but isnt optimum. Re15 will work, and I havent tried Re19.

If you want something that you can run on a progressive, get Ramshot Hunter. I use a bunch of it for short course matches and practice though the stuff I have is called Data 85, but thats what it is...bought a bunch when it was $70 per 8 pound keg...wish I would have bought more!

If you run H4350, with the 115s you are going to run 36.0 to maybe 39.0 grs on the high side, just depends on your rifle. the 39.0 will likely be HOT. Just start low and work up.

You may like to do load development, but I'd rather shoot matches. The listed loads from D Tubb's website work. On my T2k IN 6xc, first loads ever, tried Lapua 105 moly .010' in with 39.0 H4350. I centered up the sights at 100/200 and to get some rough zeros, then shot it at 600. First time out with that first load was a 198 with 12 and the two 9's were from missed wind calls. When I'm using the 115 DTAC moly, seated .010' in, using H4350 38.0/38.5/39.0 have all shot fabulously well... enough to clean 600, 800, and very good scores through 1K with good X counts when the conditions and the shooter are 'on'. A great round and rifle. IMR 4350 should work too. I haven't tried it on the 6XC, but my 243 and 7x57 seem to prefer it to H4350, slightly. RL17 works too, but I haven't spent any time to tune it as the H4350 loads as suggested by D Tubb shoots so well. good luck.

Well luck is with me. Found some 8 lb jugs of H4350 and ordered up one. Thanks again guys.

Jeff is correct there...the 6XC aint going to take much load development unless you go off into uncharted waters..even then, about anything I have ever tried as shot well. Being a sling shooter, my expectations are 1/2 MOA, once I get it, thats what I run, as thats my best holding ability.

I too expect my ammo to shoot high x count cleans at 600 if I do my part...my current, no load development load,39.2grs H4350, Berger 105VLD, 20 in...40 off works well too btw) has shot a bunch of cleans at 600, the highest being a 200-15x. Thats out of a 26 inch bbled XTC rifle. Shot the same rifle/load at 1000 one time and shot a 200-8x there but its not my preferred combo at that distance.

I suspect, based on what I have seen you post Stan, that you might be looking for smallish groups out of a tactical rifle, if so, you still wont have to do much tweaking to get something that shoots extremely well. Hope you got a 1/7.5 or faster twist though if you want to shoot 115s. The DTAC will run in the 1/8, but its borderline, the Berger likes the 7.5 or faster though you can sometimes get by with a longer bbl and FAST speeds.

Good luck and have fun.

Hi John.
Thanks for the input. Yep...went with a 1:7.5 twist 28' Krieger barrel into a BAT M receiver. Stock is a McMillan MBR,etc. Pretty much your standard meat and potatoes bench rifle.

I prefer N160. 4350 Does shoot well though.

Thanks guys.

I was able to find and order 8 lbs. or H4350, 5 lbs. of RL-17, 3K Wolf LR primers and 1K or Wolf LR Magnum primers. This should keep me busy for a time.
