6X6.5X47 case dimensions

Any one have available the case dimensions for this case?? or are the dimensions the same as the 6X47SM?? Thanks, Jim

No, the 6x47 Lapua is .038 taller than the Swiss Match case. FWIW, I had 6x47SM dies before the Lapua case appeared and I now make 6x47SM cases from the Lapua case, it's a snap.

Hope it's okay if I piggy-back on this one...

What kind of neck thickness are you folks seeing once the brass has been necked down from 6.5mm to 6mm? What sort of outside neck diameter on loaded rounds,un-turned)? I'm thinking about ordering a reamer; I plan on getting brass in hand before I order the reamer but it'd be nice to know what others are getting as well.

Monte, I was seeing about .013 on my brass before I turned it down for my chamber to .0115. I have not loaded any thing into an unturned case, so I have no clue on the other measurement.

Wow, that stuff must have been kind of thin if it was 0.013 after necking down and before turning!

Monte, I just measured a couple of pcs. that have not been necked down yet. It is measuring about .014 - .015 before anything has been done to it.

So... it was 14-15 thou *before* being necked down, and 13 thou after being necked down before being neck-turned to 11.5 thou? Am I reading that right? Normally doesn't brass get *thicker*, not thinner, as it gets necked down?

In most cases it does. But you have it right. I just measured both of them and that is what I am seeing. I am necking my brass down with a Forstner FL die from Sinclair Intl.

You would be surprised at how easy it goes thru the die too. It sure don't feel like any other brass that I have necked down.
