6X47

I am having 6x47 built and wonder what success people are having with different weight bullets and different powders. It will be a Lawton action and barrel in 1:8 . I was thinking of Berger 105's and H4350 or maybe N135 to start working up loads. I am sure it has been discussed before but I have not seen any recent threads.I will use it primarily for 600 yds. Thanks in advance. Dobber

Dobber, I have a custom built 6 X 47 Shehane which is the 6.5 X 47 Lapua necked down with the shoulders blown forward. My chamber neck size is .270 and my loaded rounds measure .268 The barrel is a Krieger 28" heavy fluted with 1 - 8 twist. My first and only 5 shot group at 500 yds. measured .991 The brass had been once fired while barrel break in but I had not done any fine tuning with bullet seating depth. I have done that since I shot that group and my best 100 yd. group measured .157 so expect my long range groups to be as good or better than the first. My load consist of 41 gr. VV N-560, CCI Small Magnum 450
primer, 105 Berger VLD seated to .010 into the lands. Cases have been BR preped. My OAL is 2.110 measured to the ogive rather than to the point of the bullet. Hope this helps, Bill
