6x47 Rem

Tell me about the 6x47 Rem. I was told that it used 222 Mag brass, but can also use 204 Ruger brass? Is this a good choice for a 14" twist barrel? What vels from a 24" barrel using 60-75gr bullets?

6x47 Rem was the BR Sweetheart for a while, but the 6PPC and 6BR replaced it. With a 1 in 14 you are limited to <75 grain bullets. 6TCU is a neat cartridge too. Try to find one for a Contender!

I had one built with a 14 twist on a stiller action and it shoots very small holes. I had to really search to find 222 Rem mag brass. 204 ruger brass can be used but my chamber is no freebore and if I shoot long bullets which seat below mid neck I have to turn the lower half of the neck as my chamber is tight, lighter bullets ok. Nosler made a run recently offering 222 Rem mag brass but case splitting was a problem...they will replace these when next run comes out. I can get 3400+ fps using the fast powders, esp LT 30, LT 32 and H4198.

We shot a couple of 27" 40x on p. dog towns. Our loads was with H335 and 60g Sierra's at 3500, never full length sized a case, got really long barrel life.
