6x47 Lapua

With new Bartlein 10 twist 5r barrel am having poor luck with 75 VMax and 36 to 37.5 of Varget. Any suggestions?

Can't comment on the load, but here's some advice--

Measure some of those V-maxs. I had some that were all over the map in terms of bearing surface diameter, width at max cross-section).

In my 8-twist rifle the Berger 80s were WAY more accurate than the 75 V-max. Were talkin high ones vs. half-inch+ groups for the 75s.

I've only tried the 75s jammed about .010. I've been told to try jumping them .015 or more, or just having them about .005 in the lands. I've got a few left and I could seat them deep and try that. But right now, the answer is easy--Buy Bergers.

I assume you mean the Nosler 80 Btip?

Dale,
Yes, Ballistic Tip. You should find one between 37g ~37.5g

My exprience is exact the same. 75 Vmax avg .5~.7" at best. I also have good luck with the Berger, not high 1s but very, very close. I have the same result with the 80g Nosler and decided to run with it because a higher BC + it’s boat tail.

I've tried all manner of bullets in my 6 BR. The only ones more accurate than the 80 Gr fowlers are the 75 Gr Hornady's. Maybe I just got a good box

Tim Smith,
What's the twist rate on your barrel, how fast are you pushing them and what do you consider as "accurate"? I have a few boxes of these pills, need to do something with them.

I don't have a chrono. My best load is 31.0 Gr of IMR4895, CCI 450 in Lapua 6BR brass for the 75 Gr horn. It is very mild in my gun. I only have a 15 power scope. It shoots 5 shots in .5 inch regularly. A few groups have been .3 The Fowlers go into .3 to .5. Good luck.

Forgot to say my twist is 8. I've tried lots of loads and bullets. The 80 Gr fowlers seem to shoot with almost any reasonable load. Not all that sensitive to seating depth. The 75 Gr Hornady's are a clear second in this regard. On the other hand the various 105 to 107 Gr bullets have taken a lot of tuning to get them to shoot in my rifle. Very sensitive to seating depth. Could be that I just got an exceptional box of the Hornadys or my rifle just likes them for some reason.
