6x47 lapua twist

I am having a 6x47 lapua custom rifle made and I am not sure what twist I should choose. I am looking to shoot out to 5/600 and therefore require a 1/8 twist to stabilise the 105gr bullets. However, I am not sure if the lighter 60-80gr range bullets will actually reach the target. I have experienced this in a 1/8 20cal wildcat rifle. Anything under 40gr just blows up in the air due to the fast twist, will this occur with the lighter 6mm bullets or not? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks, Josh

I would definitely go with the 1-8 twist barrel so you can shoot The heavier bullets like the 105vld Bergers at that range.

I'm buying a 1-7.5 or a 1-7.7 Gain Twist for my 6mm barrel... Closer to sea level the heavier bullets lose a lot of BC due to slow twist rates.. Run your numbers over at Applied Ballistics or JBM and look for the Stability Factor of a particular barrel/bullet/velocity combo..

The 70 Blitzking, 75 vmax and 87vmax will hold up just fine in the 8 twist.

I have one that I just finished putting together in 9t, purpose is a 600yd east coast rifle whitetail to crows but mostly hogs. I didn't need the 105 for what I was targeting with the rifle. Going to try and run the 95 tipped smk for most everything and see how the 87 hornady does also.

The 103-8 class bullets are nice, slick and have a good variety but I wanted something a little lighter and flatter at the shorter ranges (under 600) that I would be mostly shooting.
