6X47 Lapua 1-12 is Stacking

Update on the 12 twist 6X47 -

Quickly becoming my favorite varmint set up with 70 grain Varmegeddons.

Speed was about 3560 at 70ish rounds, haven't checked it since. I thought the XLR chassis would be conducive to running a thermal, and I'm sure it is, I just don't care for it. I'll be swapping it to a MCS PHA soon. but this set up at 23" is solid. Fast, flat, and zero runners. I suspect it will wind up just north of 3600fps. Peterson brass has been great. Longest shot so far with it was 379 - point and shoot. Zero about an inch high at 100 with an Iray TH50C. I hit the 379 a little low, he spun a while before the lights went out, Probably should've aimed a little higher but still would've been on hair either way. Really loving it.

Great to see this. I'm working with a new 6 X 47 as well but with 1 - 8 Tw. 28 " barrel for the heavies. So far really liking results. Planning to do some verification 5-shot groups @ 300 yds. soon.

12 twist has become my favorite, even in BR work with 68 grain bullets. Won a national championship grand agg with that combo, so it's not very broken. Overall, I find them just ever so slightly better than the more common 13.5-14 twists used for that work. I didn't come to that conclusion overnight though. It was over several barrels in high level br competition. Both can still win and any difference either way is small. Not much earth shattering left to do, it seems. The flip side is that I won two 200 yard national championship aggs with 80's in 12 twists. I think the 80's have a very slight edge at 200 and beyond. But again, nothing earth shattering and just perceived small advantages there too. I don't see a down side and I like the ability to shoot 80's in one vs being locked into 68ish bullets in a 13.5-14 twist.

Bottom line...I'm staying with 12 twists though.

The 6X47 is a great cartridge for both Varmints and a little large game. That and the 6 GT are both very versatile cartridges. I have four 6X47s set up with different bullets and they all shoot really great. Easy to tune, wide range of powders available and pleasant to shoot. I think you have a real winner, especially with the 70 Gr bullets. Barts 80 Gr Dominator is the lightest bullet I'm using but nothing wrong with good 70S for Coyotes and other Predators. Enjoy...

I have 1000 80 grain Dominators I intend to do a 6BRA with down the road. Those bullets are awesome. This particular one, I wanted as much max point blank as I could get so the 70's won out in this particular case.

Nice to see a few 12 twisters in 6x47 L out there. I had Kelbly’s chamber me one on an Atlas single shot w/Krieger HV 1-12” @28” last year. My first custom action except for an old 70’s DGA. Woohoo! About time at 69 years old.Put it in a Revelation 3” BR stock, prepared to drill a hole for the mid-action 3rd screw and bed, but of course, I had to go shoot it!

Wow is all I can say! N150 and 70gr Speer TNTs for starters punched tiny round holes with the first load I tried. An unsung bullet for sure.Peterson brass. Thanks to Kelbly’s for a timely great job; yes I love my 6x47! Only my 2nd 6mm other than my 722 in 244. That 1-12” shot 100gr Norma Oryx into good groups @ 3000fps with the first load of 40 year old IMR 4831 I tried .

Honored to be here learning from all you nice and knowledgeable folks! 80gr Berger varmint next now that I got my heart patched up!
