6x47 COAL case,

Looking to see if someone has a 6x47 case for my Hornady COAL tool! Or where can I find one?

I have several 6.5x47's!

I made one from a 6.5x47 by sizing it down then polishing the inside of the case until a bullet slid in fairly easily. It was a pain and took me forever but it worked. I should have purchased a larger bushing to neck it down with and I would have been home free. :(

I bought a 6.5x47 case from Sinclair that was set up for the Hornady coal tool. I ran the case through my bushing die with a .271 bushing. It only required about 15 seconds with a rolled up piece of sand paper to allow the bullet to be a slip fit.

Hey Dennis what ive done is I cut 2 slots on the case neck this allows for enough neck tension to hold bullet but it will allow bullet to slip when inserted into chamber and the bolt closes.

I started doing this when I couldnt find modified case for some calibers that I had and didnt have a lathe to modify my own cases.

It has worked very well for me, remember to polish up the cuts to remove any burrs from the cuts.

Hope this helps

Get a .275 bushing, remove the expander pin from the die, use a 6.5x47 modified case, I ran mine through the zizer die, turned 180, punched it again. Result: It will only take a few minutes to polish it up! I did it and it works perfect!

If anybody would like for me to make them one, I am sure I could accomadate you, I just have to order more 6.5x47 cases!
