6x45 ackley 40°...anybody?

I have a 6x45 that is very accurate...13.5 twist. It shoots 60 - 66 gr bullets into small holes and big ghogs. Problem is speed...not enough. The wind hampers long shots, so, after seeing what the Ackley imp did for my .223 , I wondered what the Ackley might do for the 6x45. Pt&g has a reamer listed so there has been a demand. Has anybody done this one? My 6x45 is my switch barrel gun, so the project won't break the bank. Thanks.

Try some AA2200 powder in your 6x45. I was amazed at the speed I obtained from it. I shoot a 26", 12 twist Lilja on mine. My rifle ran right with the Accurate data they list on their site. I shoot 55-66 grain bullets. Hope this helps.

My best combination with 65 conaways is with LT 32 whose burn rate is right there with 2200. I'll increase the load to see if I can find the next node. With the current load, it cloverleafs. Widener' s has 2200 in stock now...do I need to try another powder???

I have a 6TCU with a 12 twist #5 Douglas stainless cut at 20". I have only shot 65Vmax, 70MK and some 70TNT down it. I am always impressed at how that sucker shoots with whatever I have put down it. My shooting seems to suck more each year in part because of how I am currently paced but have shot more 3 shot groups under 1/2" I think then I have over 1/2" with it.

Shot 3 shots just holding the grip and letting it recoil and 3 shots holding the forend like I would shooting a coyote out the truck window. Then screwed on my heavy HVT Gemtech and shot 3 shots again each way. The 4 3 shot groups averaged .48". It makes me look good I must say. LOL
